しつこくブリジットジョーンズから。
「彼がどんな悪いことをしたの？」と聞かれ、ブリジットが答える場面。
"What about you, Bijit? What your bad boyfriend do?"
"Well, er, ... he really didn't stick up for me at this lawyers'supper,...and, um, then he would fold his..."

実際に身を挺してかばうのはprotectが用いられるけれど、いじめられている人や非難されている人、あるいは嫌疑をかけられている人の「味方になり守ってやる」場合は、stick up for が使われる。

日常的な状況で使うのがふつうで、「法廷で弁護する」などというときには使われない。

stuckはstickの過去分詞でありstick upは「ピストル強盗を働く」などの意のスラングだが、stuck-upはその意味から離れて、これだけでconceited（うぬぼれた）という意味の一個の形容詞であると考えてよい。「ツンとすます」や「鼻にかける」もこの訳で間に合う。Her ability in English has made her stuck-up.（彼女は英語がうまいのを鼻にかけている）。
○あの娘は最高にカッコいいんだけど、お高くとまっているからな。That girl is a real knockout! But she's so stuck-up.

明日 返すので、もう見れないかも・・。
About a boyは、スクリプト本を持ってるし、MDに音を録ってあるので、次はこれからしつこくやってみようかな。
でも、ドラマや映画を見ると、本が読めませんねぇ。

stick up forとstuck-up,私も覚えよう。stickはstuckの形で出て来て、精神的、肉体的に身動きできない状態を表すのによく使われていますね。"We are stuck in the elevator between the sixth and seventh floor. " ユーガットメールから。

いつも映画からの例文ありがとうございます。
stuck up(お高くとまってる）も始めの方で、ブリジットが使ってたような気がしました。こういう時は、スクリプトのテキストファイルが欲しくなりますね。

とありました。そこには、下記のようにありました：

マークと喧嘩別れして帰宅したブリジッドが、マークに電話して留守電にメッセージを入れていると、ブザーが鳴ってマークが訪ねてくるシーンがあったでしょう。
その留守電メッセージの最後に言ってました。
続きをみてstraight from the horse's mouthとstick up forをさがさなきゃ。
マークと喧嘩別れして帰宅したブリジッドが、マークに電話して留守電にメッセージを入れていると、ブザーが鳴ってマークが訪ねてくるシーンがあったでしょう。
その留守電メッセージの最後に言ってました。
続きをみてstraight from the horse's mouthとstick up forをさがさなきゃ。

映画の中でもそうだったんですが、「肩を持つ」「味方する」という感じですね。

私も、この前見つけたのを追加。

この本では、他にもfrom scratch とmore to it than that などいろいろ出てきたのですが、聞いている時に、あれ？と思うものの、その後本で探さなかったりして、そのままになったりします。
