今朝、Inaさんのブログで、「bite off more than one can chew（手に余る）」の記事を読んだ後、「他にどんな言い方があるだろう？」とか思って、辞書を引いたときに、This problem is too much for me to handle.（この問題は私の手に余る）とかhandful（手に余る仕事）が目に入りました。
たまたま今日、audibleのファイルを聞いていたら、この「handful」が立て続けに2回出てきたので、「お！」と思いました。
ティーンエージャーの娘が手に負えない という感じで使われていました。
本で確認したところ、
And Sally's response was always that Hiroko wasn't her mother and it was none of her business.
She was sixteen, and a real handful for Reiko.
"Your cousin Sally looks like quite a handful." Tad said conversationally after she left.

TBありがとうございました。天使のくれた時間には、Those little monkeys can be a real handful.がでてきました。子どものことを言っています。昨日のビジ英には、out-of-controlがでてきました。

最初、Inaさんとこでコメントしようとしたのですが、長くなったのでTBにしてしまいました。映画からの例文、ありがとうございます。
私も、「紙」のフォルダで「handful」を探してみたら、殆どが「a handful of」でしたが、PeterPanで見つかりました。

子供に対してよく使われるのでしょうかね。

handful は名詞なのですね。LDCEからの引用でしたか。ロングマンの学習英英辞典にもありました。下記に引用します：
a living thing which is so active that it is difficult to control: That child is quite a handful.（引用終わり）

そうですー、英英辞典の引用はLDCEからでした。すぐ、書くのを忘れてしまいます。
-fulという語尾は、形容詞というイメージなのですが、調べてみるとhandful以外にも bagful、armful、basketful、bucketful、glassfulみたいな名詞タイプがいろいろ見つかりました。
