1953年、アメリカでもまだ「女性は学問より幸せな結婚」だった頃、超保守的な名門女子大に赴任してきた美術の教師Katherine(ジュリア・ロバーツ）とその生徒たちの映画なのですが、結婚した生徒Betty（キルスティン・ダンスト）が久しぶりに授業に出てきたときのKatherineとのやりとりで耳に残ったのが、consequencesでした。

映画の中では、「私を落第させたら、どうなるかお分かり？」というような字幕だったと思います。（確か、彼女のお母さんは学校のエライ人）
彼女の表情が恐くて、落第させたら、ひどいわよ、報いがあるわよ　というよう感じが伝わって来ました。
